Fecking Bollocks

Read some bad news today, Terry Pratchett has being diagnosed as suffering from a rare early form of Alzheimer's.

The good news is it will not impact on his current works in progress and he remains cheerful, you can read his take on it over here.

Following the deaths of David Gemmell and Rober Jordan this year it looks like being on my list of favourite authors is becoming dangerous.

What's weird is that all of the men you mention are/were around the same age.

That's sad.

dba, can I send you a list of my favourite authors so that you don't read them and they remain healthy?

You beer 111 in the previous post sounded quite appealing, both by name and flavor description.

And I wanted to say thanks for your morale boosting efforts - it helped!

rt, had not spotted that they were all born in '48. Should get another 4 or so books out of TP maybe more if he is lucky, you can never tell how quickly that disease will progress.

Lin, send me the list and I will oblige. Happy to have helped.

Lets hope for some more books before he loses track of whats happening in the discworld.
I've just finished watching hogfather on DVD, again, and about to start on Thud.

Yeah, I was heartsick when I heard this news.

Web, loved that Hogfather adaptation and Thud is yet another fine tale of the multi cultural world of The Watch.

Phlegmmy, Yes it put a real downer on my day, we can only hope that he is able to continue writing for a few more years.

I hope so, too.
